56,659 Bangladeshi pilgrims arrive in Saudi
A total of 56,659 pilgrims from Bangladesh have arrived in Saudi Arabia for Hajj this year as of 2:59 am on Thursday. On the other hand, 14 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia so far.
This information was revealed from the daily bulletin of the IT Helpdesk on the Hajj portal of the Ministry of Religion on Friday, May 15.
So far, 72 flights have been operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 52 by Saudi Airlines and 22 by Flynas Airlines.
Nasreen Jahan (37) of Gazipur Sadar died in Medina on Tuesday (May 12). Among the deceased pilgrims, 10 are men and 4 are women. 11 people died in Mecca and 3 in Medina. The holy Hajj will be held in Saudi Arabia on May 26, subject to the sighting of the moon. This time 78,500 people from Bangladesh will perform Hajj.
Of these, 73,935 are under private management and 4,565 are under government management.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated this year’s Hajj flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on April 18. Flights to Saudi Arabia will continue until May 21. After the Hajj, the return flights will start on May 30. The return flights will end on June 30.
