Magnitude 7.2 earthquake has shaken Japan. The epicenter was reported at 6:09 a.m. local time on Saturday, March 20 off the northeast coast of the country, according to the country’s Meteorological Department.
The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor. However, no tsunami alert was issued. A tsunami alert was issued in the coastal area after the quake.
The country’s state-run broadcaster NHK reported that sea waves could be as high as one meter. Residents have been advised to be vigilant about the tsunami.
