If Schools not open in November, auto pass!

If it is not possible to open government primary school by next November, Akram-al-Hussein the senior secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has indicated auto pass.He said, “If the school is not reopened in November, there will be no annual examination this time.”

If the school opens, I will be able to make an assessment. What will we evaluate if the school does not open?’

The secretary said this at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on the occasion of International Literacy Day 2020 at the Secretariat on Sunday. State Minister for Primary and Mass Education read a written statement at the press conference.

The state minister said the literacy rate in the country is 74.7 percent. During the coalition government in 2005, the rate was 53.5 percent. Under the Bureau of Non-Formal Education, literacy knowledge was imparted to 18 million illiterate people from 1996 to 2001 through various programs. For this Bangladesh won the International Literacy Award 1998 by UNESCO. He also said that various steps have been taken to increase the literacy rate.

In the current situation of coronavirus, if the school is not reopened in November, the students will be given ‘auto pass’ or not, the state minister said, adding that they are not making any announcement now so that the students do not drop out of school after hearing the news of auto pass.

The senior secretary said, ‘The syllabus has been shortened to evaluate the students of government primary schools from first to fifth class on the basis of examinations. The syllabus has been shortened to October and November. When the school opens, the class of students from first to fifth class will be evaluated with the test on it. If it is not possible to open a school, we have to think of an alternative way.’

The secretary added, “We have taken various steps to prevent the fall. Many kindergarten schools in Corona may close. For this, we have given instructions to enroll kindergarten students in the vicinity of government primary schools.’

Director General of Non-Formal Education Bureau Tapan Kumar Ghosh was also present at the press conference.
