Body Of CR Dutta Is Not Going To Shaheed Minar

The body of CR Dutta is not going to Shaheed Minar, Guard of Honor is going to Dhakeswari.The body of Major General (Retd.) Bir Uttam Chitta Ranjan Dutta (CR Dutta), Sector 4 Commander of the Liberation War and Founder President of Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity organization, is not being taken to the Central Shaheed Minar. He will be given a guard of honor at the Dhakeswari temple in the capital.

Rana Dasgupta, general secretary of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, made the announcement on Monday (August 31st) morning.

He said, ‘The body is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka from the United States at 8:40 am today. But I did not go to fetch the body. So I can’t say whether he has come or not.’

He added, ‘His body will be kept in the cold storage of the Army Hospital. The body will be taken out of the cold storage at 7:00 am on Tuesday (September 01) and taken to his home at DOHS in Banani. From there it will be taken to Dhakeswari temple at 8:00 am. A couple of hours will be kept at Dhakeswari.

Rana Dasgupta further said, “His body is not being taken to the Shaheed Minar due to the ongoing Corona situation. However, he will be given a guard of honor in Dhakeswari on Tuesday. From there the body will go to Bardeshwari crematorium in Sabujbagh. The army will salute him there from 11:30 am to 12:00 noon. Then the body will be cremated.’

Meanwhile, the body of CR Dutta arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday (August 31) at 8:40 am on an Emirates Airlines flight.

CR Dutta died at a hospital in the United States on August 25 at around 9:30 am Bangladesh time. He was 93 years old at the time of his death. He was suffering from various diseases due to old age.
