The incident took place around 8:30 pm on Sunday.

Manish was a member of the BJP’s Barrackpore organizing district. He was also a councilor.

Witnesses said Manish was standing near Titagarh police station. At that time, the miscreants who came on a motorcycle shot at Manish. He was shot more than once. His partner Govinda was shot while trying to save him. Manish, who was shot, was rushed to a hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead.

The BJP on Monday called for a 12-hour bandh in Barrackpore to protest the killing of Manish.

The BJP has blamed the state’s ruling Trinamool Congress for the killings.

However, the Trinamool Congress has denied the BJP’s allegations.

According to the Trinamool Congress, Manish was killed due to internal conflict within the BJP.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has condemned the killing.
