Case filed against 7 people including the owner of Mayur-2 launch in Chandpur.Police have filed a case against seven people, including the owner and master of the Mayur-2 launch in Chandpur, for loss of life in a boat accident on the Buriganga River in Dhaka.Filed the case with south Keraniganj Police Station on Tuesday morning alleging ‘negligent death’. The plaintiff in the case is SI Shamsul Alam of Naval Police.
The accused in the case are Mosaddek Hanif Soad, owner of Mayur-2 launch, Master Abul Bashar, Master Zakir Hossain, Staff Shipon Hawlader, Shakil Hossain, Hridoy and Sukani Nasir Mridha. Besides, five or six anonymous persons have been accused there.
South Keraniganj Police Station SI Bachir Uddin said the case has been charged under sections 280, 304(a), 337 and 34 of the Penal Code. However, no arrests have been made yet.
The launch named ML Morning Bird was coming to Sadarghat with passengers from Munshiganj on Monday morning.
It sank after being hit by another large launch named Mayur-2 in Buriganga near Shyambazar.
Rescue workers recovered 32 bodies from the spot till noon on Monday. Locals also rescued two others and took them to Mitford Hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead.
