Chandpur Produces 40,000 Bales Of Jute This year

Chandpur produces 40,000 bales of jute this year.In 8 upazilas of Chandpur, different varieties of jute have been cultivated in 4,458 hectares of land this season. Produced 40 thousand and 122 bales. But this year the production target was set at 37,080 bales.

Abdul Mannan, an agriculturist working in Chandpur District Agriculture Extension Department, gave this information. In the official language, 5 maund is called 1 bale. As such, 2 lakh and 610 maunds of jute has been produced this time.

He added, ‘Marketing of the country’s manufactured goods is directed to use jute bags instead of plastic bags.’

Chandpur is one of the riverine agricultural areas of the country. Chandpur has a long history of producing agricultural products. Surrounded by the Meghna, Padma, Dakatiya and Meghna Dhanagoda rivers, Chandpur is a district with fertile soil and climate.

Where all kinds of agricultural products are produced. Jute is one of them. In the early sixties, 3 jute mills named W Rahman Jute Mill, Star Al Qaed and Hamidia Jute Mill were established. Due to that, more or less jute is cultivated in Chandpur.
