In Chandpur town, a shop was hit by an oil tanker lorry. A shopkeeper was tragically killed when an oil tanker of Meghna Depot hit him in the Stand Road area of Chandpur city. The accident took place at around 5:15 pm on Monday, February 26, near Kazi Traders on the Stand Road area.
The deceased has been identified as Shital Chakraborty, 65. His father’s name Nagendra Chakraborty. He used to shop in front of Agrani Bank in the Jorpukur Par area of the city. Upon receiving the news, Chandpur Model Police Station came to the spot and recovered the body, and detained the oil-laden lorry.
Eyewitnesses including Riyadh, Al Amin, Badal, Suleiman, and several others said that Meghna Depot oil tanker suddenly came from behind while he was walking along Stand Road on his way back after meeting his brother in the afternoon. The pedestrian’s face was crushed under the wheel of the lorry and he died on the spot.
Soon after the tragic incident, the locals stopped the deadly tank lorry. Chandpur Model Police later recovered the body and took it to the police station for autopsy.
Chandpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Abdur Rashid said, “I have received the news of a tragic road accident. Upon receiving the news, I immediately sent a force from the police station.”
