Three people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a motorcycle while visiting Chandpur. The accident took place at Balakhal Dherra on the Cumilla-Chandpur regional highway in Hajiganj Upazila of the district around 1 pm on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Sujan (30), Monir (35), and Sohag (35) of the Belashar area. They are all residents of the Belashar area.
Rahim, who came with the victims, said they left Cumilla at 12 noon to visit Chandpur. Six of them were coming to Chandpur on two motorcycles. On reaching the accident site of Hajiganj on the way, a Bogdad bus from Chandpur to Cumilla first pushed the motorcycle from one side. The three on the motorcycle fell on the road. When the bus hit them, three people died on the spot.
Witnesses said that before we understood anything, the bodies of two people lying there. As the bus passed over them, both their heads were crushed. One is alive for a while but dies within a short time.
Hajiganj police officer in charge (OC) Harunur Rashid said the bus and its driver were detained from Hajiganj Bazar after receiving information about the accident. Police are at the scene.
