Curfew Imposed Across Saudi Arabia During Eid-ul-Fitr Holiday

24-hour curfew will be imposed across Saudi Arabia during the five-day Eid-ul-Fitr holiday to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The country’s interior ministry said in a statement on Tuesday (May 12th). The curfew will be in force from May 23 to May 27 at the end of Ramadan.

Earlier, people could travel across Saudi Arabia except Mecca from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. Economic activities will also continue at this time. A 24-hour curfew is still in place in Mecca.

The government imposed a 21-day curfew on March 23. Since then, its duration has been gradually extended to reduce the prevalence of corona.

The curfew was relaxed on April 26 in all places except Mecca and its environs. Under this, people were allowed to move from 9 am to 5 pm and shops were allowed to open.

On April 2, a 24-hour curfew was imposed in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, and other major cities, including Mecca. It was initially extended after a 15-hour curfew was imposed in the cities.

Another 1,911 people have been infected with the coronavirus in Saudi Arabia in the past 24 hours. As a result, the total number of victims has increased to 42,925. The virus has killed nine more people in the country in the last 24 hours. As a result, the total number of deaths has risen to 264 people.
