Cyclone Amphan is forecast to hit Bangladesh.Finally, a very strong cyclone ‘Amphan’ could directly hit the territory of Bangladesh, according to the Meteorological Department. They say they could cross the coast of Bangladesh between late Tuesday May 19 last night to May 19 Wednesday afternoon or evening through the area between Khulna and Chittagong.
After analyzing the data at 6:00 am on Monday, May 18, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in a special notification.
It said that the strongest cyclone ‘Amphan’ located in the southeastern Bay of Bengal and the adjoining southwestern Bay of Bengal has moved northwards and is currently located in the West Central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining South Bay of Bengal.
It will be located at 1,150 km south-southwest of Chittagong seaport, 1,090 km south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar seaport, 1,070 km south-southwest of Mongla seaport and 1,050 km south-southwest of Payra seaport at 6:00 am on May 18.
It may intensify further and move north-northwest and then change direction and move north-northeast through the area between Khulna and Chittagong, crossing the coast of Bangladesh between late night on 19 May,Tuesday to Wednesday afternoon or evening on 20 May.
Within 74 km of the cyclone center, the maximum continuous wind speed is 110 km per hour, which is increasing to 130 km in the form of gusts or gusty winds. The sea near the center of the cyclone is very turbulent.
Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to display local warning signal number 4.
All fishing boats and trawlers stationed in the North Bay and the deep sea have been asked to proceed cautiously from near the coast so that they can reach safe haven on short notice. At the same time, they have been told not to wander in the deep sea.
