Decision of release Khaleda Zia under the direction of Prime Minister.The government has recommended release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on conditional release for six months.

Law Minister Anisul Haque made this known at an emergency press conference at his residence in Gulshan on Tuesday (March 24).

Anisul Haque said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the directive. The Prime Minister’s directive is that the legal process be suspended for two terms and release him. The government has made this decision for humanitarian reasons.

He said that according to Section 401 of the Criminal Procedure sub-Section 1, on condition of not going abroad, I suspended the sentence of Khaleda Zia for six months and gave her opinion on the release. Feedback has been sent to the Home Ministry. The next decision on his release will be made from there.

The law minister said Khaleda Zia’s age and humanitarian reasons have been decided to suspend her sentenced. However, she will seek treatment from home. Can’t travel outside the country. In today’s scenario (situation in Covid-19), asking someone to go abroad means asking them to suicide.

How will she get treatment if she is ill at home? Responding to reporters’ questions, the law minister said she is currently in the most standardized hospital (BSMMU) in Bangladesh if she needs treatment. She is undergoing treatment there. And in the future, this will be understood in terms of the situation.

When will the government’s decision take effect? Asked if the minister said that ever since the Home Ministry will release her.

Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust Khaleda Zia was sentenced to jail on February 8, 2018 from corruption. She is currently undergoing treatment at Prison Cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).

Coronavirus show that people over the age of 60 are at higher risk of being infected with the image shown worldwide. The BNP was demanding the release of 75-year-old Khaleda Zia.
