Democracy Is Being Practiced In Educational Institutions

Education minister Dr. Dipu Moni said, ‘Democracy is being practiced in educational institutions through cabinet elections’.

Dr. Dipu Moni said that the school cabinet elections are being organized to educate students about their values ​​and responsibilities including democratic practices, ideas about their rights, tolerance and respect for the opinions of others, creating honesty among the teachers-students and student dropout rate.

She said these words to reporters after visiting the polling center of the school cabinets of minor students at Motijheel Government Girls High School on Saturday January 25.

Education Minister also said, ‘Today’s students are getting the opportunity to participate in various development activities. Students are choosing leaders by exercising their franchise. Following the leader’s instructions. In addition to education, various activities are being added to the school. Due to this, the students are aware of their own responsibility and are developing educational institutions along with creating their own values.

She said that in all places a leader has to accept that students are able to gain that knowledge in school. Since childhood, the practice of democracy and respect for democratic values ​​has been increasing. Tolerance and respect for the views of others, assisting teachers in teaching and learning, assisting in preventing admission and dropout in educational institutions, participation in environmental development activities of educational institutions and ensuring participation of students in sports, cultural and co-educational activities.

Dipu Moni said that those who will be elected in this election will perform their duties properly, and those who are not elected will do their duty with the winners without being upset.

After visiting the Motijheel Government Girls ‘High School, the Education Minister visited the school cabinet selection at Motijheel Government Boys’ High School and Siddheshwari School and College on Bailey Road.

This year, elections are being held in a total of 22,926 educational institutions in 559 upazilas / thanas under 8 divisions and 8 metropolitan area. Out of them, there are 16,384 secondary schools and 6,542 Dakhil Madrasas.

Candidates are taking part in the election in the secondary schools of 1,031,72 and 52,336 posts in madrasas. In the election, there are a total of 1 crore 15 lacs 53 thousand and 916 voters. Of the voters, 6251683 female student(54.10%).
