Matlab primary school teacher injured in sound grenade during protest dies
Fatema Akhter an assistant teacher of a government primary school, died after participating in the protest.

She was protesting for three-point demands, including the implementation of the 10th grade. She died at 10 am on Sunday (Nov 16) while undergoing treatment at the ICU of Mirpur Alok Hospital.

Teacher Fatema Akhter was an assistant teacher at Jhenaiya Government Primary School No. 5 in Matlab Uttar Upazila of Chandpur. She is a mother of two children and her husband is DM Solaiman.

Teachers said that Fatema Akhter participated in the protest during the pen break in Shahbagh for the three-point demands of the assistant teachers. Dr. Amiyapur of Matlab Uttar.

Saiful Islam an assistant teacher at Mahal Government Primary School, said, “We were in the movement together. On November 8, he was terrified by the sound of a sound grenade in Shahbagh. After being taken to the hospital, he stopped talking at one point. Later, he was admitted to the ICU, where he died at 10 am today.”

Mohammad Shamsuddin Masud, president of the Bangladesh Primary School Assistant Teachers’ Association, said, “He was admitted to Mirpur Alok Hospital after being injured by a sound grenade. We are going to his house, we will know the details there.”

Khairun Nahar Lipi of the Bangladesh Teachers’ Association (Shahin-Lipi) said that Fatema Akhter, who participated in the movement, died in Mirpur. The funeral will be held at her house in Chandpur Uttar Matlab upazila after the funeral prayer that night.
