Discussion on Disaster Mitigation Day in Chandpur

Like every year in Chandpur, International Disaster Mitigation Day has been celebrated. In front of the slogan, ‘Build a disaster-tolerant residence, live safely’, the district administration organized rallies, discussion meetings, painting contests and disaster relief on the occasion of International Disaster Mitigation Day.

Deputy Commissioner said the chief guest Majedur Rahman said,` If we all create disaster-tolerant houses while building houses, disaster relief will be possible. Materials should be kept solid while building the house. According to the rules of the government, all the houses should be built. In the coastal areas, houses should be built as per the signal.’

The government has taken various steps to deal with various disasters. The Hon’ble Prime Minister inaugurated 11,604 disaster-tolerant houses in 64 districts and 100 shelters in 14 districts. Of these,there are 15 shelter centers in Chandpur. The country is ready for disaster.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) SM Zakaria presided over the meeting at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner at 10 am on Sunday.

Additional Police Superintendent of Police Mohammad Asaduzzaman, acting freedom fighter Dr Saeeda Badrunnahar Chowdhury, Deputy Director of the Fire Service Civil Defense Chandpur Farid Uddin spoke at the function of Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Kaniz Fatema. District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer KBM Zakir Hossain gave the welcome address.

Before the meeting, a colorful rally emerged from the circuit house and ended at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, circling the city’s main road.

Later on in preparation for disaster preparedness, Chandpur Sadar North Fire Service Civil Defense members displayed various trials.

The contents of the trial were to catch fire in an oil-filled drum and set it on fire with a sack of wet cloth and extinguished it with a fire extinguisher. Extinguish water with fire in the hostel.

Accidentally injured persons were evacuated from the scene with the help of sophisticated fire service equipment. To provide services, including medical care, by ambulance to the hospital or to the Scout-Red Crescent members.
