Ekushey Book Fair is being started in Chandpur for 8 days.The Ekushey Book Fair will be held in the premises of the Shaheed Minar in Chandpur on February 18, a day for the great language movement and International Mother Language Day.
The preparatory meeting of the Ekushey Book Fair was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner of Chandpur on Sunday afternoon.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chandpur SM Zakariya presided over the meeting, Chandpur Press Club President Ikram Chowdhury, general secretary and secretary of Ekushey Book Fair Celebration Committee Shaheed Patwari, secretary of Chandpur District Pushtab traders association, secretary Jassim Khoban. Zakir Hossain Miyazi, teacher’s representative. Mohsin Mia, Md. Sanaullah, Founding President of Literary Forum Poet Mainul Islam Manik, Founding General Secretary Poet Ashik Bin Rahim.
Speaking to the President, Additional Deputy Commissioner SM Zakaria said, “Our glorious achievement as a Bengali nation is the Banyanar language movement.” In exchange for the great sacrifice of the language soldiers, we have the right to speak and write in Bengali.
He said that in memory of the language movement, every time there will be a book fair in Chandpur, organized by the district administration and sponsored by the Chandpur municipality. I would like to extend cooperation to all the industrial and cultural areas of Chandpur to make the Ekushey Book Fair a success. This year, a number of books have been published in the National Library around Bangabandhu. I request you to keep the books written by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the stalls participating in the book fair in Chandpur.
Ekushey Book Fair will continue till 25th February, starting from 18 February at Chandpur Central Shaheed Minar premises. Literary and cultural events will be served at the foot of the Shaheed Minar every day.
