21 fishermen detained in Chandpur

Naval police have arrested 25 fishermen for fishing in the river in violation of the ban in Chandpur. The operation was carried out at different places on the Padma-Meghna river from midnight on Friday to 8 am on Saturday, said Chandpur Naval Police OC Mujahidul Islam.

At the time, 55 lakh meters of current nets, 4 fishing boats, and two tons of Hilsa were seized.

The OC said raids were carried out at various places including Lagnimara, Rajrajeshwar, Amirabad, and Lalpur from midnight on Friday.

At that time, 25 fishermen were arrested while fishing.

55 lakh meters of current nets kept at different places of boats and rivers were seized.

A regular case has been filed against the detained fishermen at Chandpur Model Police Station.

Police are working to prevent fishermen from entering the river under any circumstances during the ban. He said the campaign will continue in the future.
