9 killed in hotel fire in India.A fire broke out at a residential hotel in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. Nine people have been reported dead in the blaze. The residential hotel was being used to treat patients with corona.

On Sunday (August 09), Indian media NDTV reported that the fire broke out at Hotel Swarna Palace in Vijayawada at 5:00 am. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, officials said.

The hotel was used by Ramesh Hospital as a coveted care center. There were 40 people including patients and staff in the hotel. Among them were 30 Covid patients and 10 hospital staff.

The fire started on the first floor and then spread to the second floor. Dense black smoke spreads rapidly from one floor to another. The four jumped out of a one-story window to escape. Police and firefighters smashed windows and rescued people trapped inside the hospital with the help of a ladder.

Police Commissioner Srinivasan said the hotel suddenly caught fire on Sunday morning How the fire started is not yet known.
