In Chandpur, rice is being sold in the open market for a month from today.In Chandpur, ‘selling rice in the open market’ is starting in 15 ward of Chandpur Municipality through the authorized dealers of the district food department from Saturday, October 03. For this, 156 MT of rice has been allocated for the whole month of October.
Food regulator Nityananda Kundu told the ‘Chandpur Times’ on October 03 at 9:30 am.
According to the information received, the rice will be sold in the open market through 15 dealers at the price of Tk. 30 per kg as per the government directive under Chandpur Municipality. Anyone can buy rice at 5 kg. One dealer will be given 400 kg of rice per day.
The dealer will sell the rice to the poor and low income people by maintaining the master roll. Dealers will sell this rice inside Chandpur Municipality every day from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
In this regard, Chandpur District Food Controller Nityananda Kundu said, “The rice is being sold under the ‘open market rice sale program’ as per the government’s instructions. The government issued the directive on October 02 to control the market and enable low-income people to buy rice at lower prices.
He added that 1,593 MT of rice has already been sold at Tk. 10 per kg in September. For the month of October, 1,593 MT of rice will be sold again from Sunday. About 53,127 poor, destitute and common people of Chandpur district will be able the benefits.
135 dealers will sell 10 taka per kg of rice. Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the beneficiaries of all the upazila of Chandpur district will get the opportunity to purchase this rice.
