Historic day for India. The coronavirus vaccination program has started in the country. The program was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 10.30 am local time. However, in some districts of West Bengal, it has been reported that the vaccine has been given since 9 am.
In the first phase, 30 million people including health workers, will be vaccinated free of cost. It is expected that it will take a few months to complete. After that, it has been informed that the rest of the citizens will be brought under the vaccine. India will apply the Covishield of the Serum Institute to its citizens and the Covaxin of India Biotech.
On the first day, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will monitor the prevention centers in different parts of the state through video conferencing. She also talk to those involved in the process of administering the vaccine and those receiving the vaccine. The Department of Health has also added seven prominent doctors from Kolkata to its list of first-day antidotes. There is a system of ‘web casting’ in every center of the state..
