According to a CNN report, Iran’s Supreme Leader Khomeini called the second round of coronavirus infections “truly tragic” and urged the country’s citizens to take appropriate steps to control the virus and comply with sanctions.
In a video conference on Sunday, he told lawmakers that everyone in the country should do their utmost to get the country out of the crisis as soon as possible, according to a statement from Khomeini’s office.
He called for an online meeting with members of Iran’s parliament, chairman, delegates and staff on Sunday to criticize the non-wearing of masks, as well as to co-operate with the public to prevent the recurrence of the coronavirus and to adhere to simple issues such as wearing masks.
Evidence that coronavirus infection is on the rise in Iran has recently been recorded in the country with the highest daily death record. Another 184 people died on Sunday, said Sima Sadat Lari, a spokeswoman for Iran’s health ministry. The total death toll in the country stands at 12,829.
