Israel sentences Palestinian teenager to five years in prison

Israel sentences Palestinian teenager to five years in prison. The convicted Palestinian teenager’s name is Samer Abdul-Karim Awais. He was captured more than a year ago by Israeli occupying forces.

Samir was interrogated for months at the Petah Tikva detention center in Israel, where he was tortured by Israeli investigators.

Samir’s father is currently serving a life sentence in an Israeli prison. He has not been allowed to see his father in captivity for more than a year.

Hassan, Samir’s older brother, was captured by Zionist forces in 2004. Hassan has twice been sentenced by an Israeli court to an additional 20 years in prison.

In addition, one of Samir’s uncles was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Amari refugee camp in 2002.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Commission said in a report in April that about 200 Palestinian children were currently living in inhumane conditions in Israeli jails.

Qadri Abu Baker, the head of the UN, sharply criticized for not providing the minimum assistance to these children.

He said Israeli forces had detained at least 17,000 Palestinian children since 2000, including thousands under the age of 10.

According to the Defense for Children International, between 500 to 700 Palestinian children between the ages of 12 and 17 are detained each year by the occupying forces and tried in Israeli military courts.
