In the raid of naval police in Chandpur, 250 maund of Jatka seized.Naval police have seized 250 maund of Jatka in a raid on Meghna river in Chandpur. The operation was carried out in Lalpur area of Sadar upazila. However, no one was arrested in the incident.
Chandpur Naval Police Officer in Charge Jahidul Islam said the operation was carried out on the Meghna river in Lalpur area on Sunday morning on the basis of secret information. At that time a trawler loaded with 250 maund of jatka was seized. These jatka were being smuggled to Dhaka.
Naval Police SP Kazruzzaman said the jatka seized at Chandpur Naval Police Station on Sunday afternoon was distributed among the local orphanage, helpless-poor people.
However, it was not possible to arrest anyone involved in the incident. The naval police is always active. Police are working to prevent all kinds of illegal activities including killing jatka in the river.
District Fisheries Officer Asadul Baki, Additional Superintendent of Naval Police Belayet Hossain Sikder, Chandpur Municipality Panel Mayor Farida Elias, Sadar Upazila Fisheries Officer Mahabubur Rahman were present at the time.
