Jute production target in Chandpur is 30,000 MT this year. Chandpur is one of the riverine agricultural areas of the country. Chandpur is also the best in jute production. As a result, 3 jute mills were established in Chandpur after 1964 fertilizer. These are: Star Al Qaeda, W Rahman and Hamidia Jute Mills. Hundreds of jute-laden boats could be seen on the shores of Dakatiya. Due to this, jute is widely cultivated in Chandpur.
In 8 upazilas of Chandpur, different varieties of jute have been cultivated in 4,105 hectares of land in the year 2020-21. The production target has been set at 30,000 MT. This time the market price of jute is also satisfactory. Farmers have started cutting jute in the field.
Abdul Mannan, an agriculturist working in the Chandpur District Agriculture Extension Department, gave this information at noon on June 26. Although the production is officially called ‘Bel’, this time the Department of Agriculture is calculating the weight of jute in MT.
An agronomist said, ‘The country needs high quality jute seeds but it is not available. Farmers are often affected.
He added, ‘Marketing of the country’s manufactured goods is directed to use jute bags instead of plastic bags. The jute market is likely to go down as the use of plastic bags is temporarily introduced to curb the rise in rice prices.
