Khaleda Zia Sought Bail In High Court For Medical Treatment

Khaleda Zia sought bail in the High Court for medical treatment.BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has applied for bail in the High Court for more than two years, arguing that she would go to London for medical treatment.

The bail application was filed in the relevant branch of the High Court on Tuesday in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case. Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Sagir Hossain Lyon told reporters.

5 arguments were shown in the bail application. These are: Khaleda Zia is seriously ill, she needs advanced treatment, Khaleda Zia is not getting advanced treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital, so she will go to London for better treatment if she gets bail.

The appeal court sought Khaleda Zia’s health examination report. After the hearing, Khaleda Zia’s bail was rejected by the Appellate Division.

On February 8,2018 Khaleda Zia was imprisoned in the old central jail of Dhaka after receiving a five-year sentence in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case. After the High Court of Appeal, the sentence was increased to 10 years.
