The target production of various lentils in the current year in Chandpur district is near about 1197 MT and cultivation is on process 1446 hectares of land.
According to the data obtained by the Chandpur Agriculture Department, the target of cultivating lentils for 2019-20 season rabi crops is 350 hectares and the production target is 472 MT.
The cultivation of ‘khesari’ pulses is 282 hectares and production target is 380 MT. The cultivation of ‘mascolai’ pulses is 240 hectares and the production target is 150 MT.’Mung Bean’ cultivation target is 150 hectares and production target is 195 MT.
An agronomist of the Chandpur Agricultural Extension Department said, “If the weather is favorable, this year’s production target will exceed again.
According to Agriculture Department sources, in the western region of Chandpur, eleven isolated areas are cultivated in large quantities of pulses like ‘khesari’ and ‘kalai’. Specifically Madhyachar, Ishanbala, Faterangjungpur, Ibrahimpur,Jahajmara, Amanullapur, Bishnupur, Lalpur, Chor kashim , Zahrabad.
‘Farmers are benefiting from this farming. The market value of these pulses is very demanding and the requirements of these pulses are significant’, ”said the agronomist.
