LinkedIn Will Trim 960 Workers

LinkedIn will trim 960 workers. Many companies are retrenching their employees due to the negative effects of coronavirus. This time, the professional networking website LinkedIn has announced the layoffs. They will lay off about 960 employees, which is about 6 percent of their total workforce worldwide.

Ryan Roslansky, the company’s chief executive, said in a LinkedIn public post addressed to staff that the company was not immune to the epidemic. I want to let you know, we will only cut this amount of staff.

He added that this would have an impact on LinkedIn’s global sales and talent acquisition. The epidemic has killed at least 3.7 million people in the United States. Many large technology companies have been able to avoid losses as global demand for products from home has increased. But LinkedIn’s goal is to help people find jobs, connect with professionals. As job layoffs and hiring have stopped in various organizations, their job opportunities have decreased.

Roslansky said laid-off workers would be paid at least 10 weeks’ severance pay. American workers will receive health insurance until next year. He added that the company may retain some employees in the newly created posts.

He lamented that it is very difficult to go through such a situation as an institution. But to meet the firm goal of the company is to make some difficult decisions.
