Missing body recovered from meghna River.Six days after the disappearance of MV Surabhi-9 launch, the body of college student Mehedi Hasan Bappi (17) has been recovered from the Meghna river adjoining the Hizla upazila of Barisal.
Police recovered the body from the Meghna river and sent it to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy on Saturday, January 18th. Mehdi Hasan Bappi Jhalakathi Ponabalia village A. Halim is the son of faith. He was an eleventh grade student of a college in Dhaka.
Hejla Police Station Deputy Superintendent of Police (SI) Siddiqur Rahman said,’On January 11, Bappi got up from MV Surbhi-9 launch from Sadarghat in Dhaka to go to Ujirpur upazila.
Was with his mother at the time. Mother and son were in the cabin at the launch at night. In the morning, the mother did not wake up to find her son at lunch. Later in the video footage of the CC camera of the launch, Bappi was behind the launch around 9pm.
SI Siddiqur Rahman said, ‘After receiving Bappi’s dead boddy, relatives approached the police station. Bappi’s relatives were informed after the body was recovered from the Meghna river on Saturday. The relatives came to identify Bappi’s body. The body was then sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
