Lebanese Foreign Minister Nassif Hitti has resigned in protest of the government’s incompetence. He has tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Hassan Diab.
He said the government was showing inefficiency in managing the country’s economic crisis. He resigned in protest.
In a statement issued on Monday (August 03), he said: “I have decided to resign due to lack of effective will on the part of the government. The international community has repeatedly called for structural and comprehensive reforms. But the government is indifferent to its implementation.
“I joined this government to work for Lebanon,” he said. But I saw that many leaders work against the interests of the country.
Nassif Hitti has been Lebanon’s foreign minister since Hassan Diab took office as prime minister in January.
Due to the financial crisis in Lebanon, the government has resorted to the International Monetary Fund or IMF. But the current Lebanese government is not very keen to meet the conditions set by the agency. Nassif Hitti has claimed that he cannot accept the matter.
