National Mourning Day is being celebrated with due dignity in Chandpur.August 15 is National Mourning Day. The 45th martyrdom anniversary of the great architect of independence, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On this day in 1975, the defeated assassins of 1971 brutally killed 17 members of his family including Bangabandhu.

The Bengali nation has been observing this day as a day of national mourning. A preparatory meeting of the district administration was held in Chandpur to celebrate the day with due dignity.

The meeting was held in a virtual manner on August 05, through the Zoom app. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Md. Majedur Rahman Khan.

In order to celebrate with due dignity in Chandpur, a 5-member Hon’ble Members of Parliament Advisory Committee, 56-member District Administration and District Committees and 5 Sub-Committees have been formed with politicians, teachers, journalists, well-wishers and social activists. . In addition, 20 decisions have been taken.

In the morning of 15th August, the national flag was hoisted at half-mast in all government, private and autonomous institutions, educational institutions and business establishments, tributes were paid to the portrait of Bangabandhu, discussion meeting was held in a virtual manner at 10.30 am.

In the educational institutions, various programs of mourning day were observed on their own initiative in compliance with the health rules. Besides, District Shilpakala Academy, Islamic Foundation and Shishu Academy will conduct various programs. The meeting requested all to follow the national program in compliance with the hygiene rules.

It was informed in the meeting that at present there is an epidemic called Covid-19 or Coronavirus among us. That is why we must follow the national program. All the programs of the National Mourning Day will be celebrated in Chandpur in compliance with the national program in compliance with the health rules. However, like the programs of other years, this year’s programs will be there, not just processions and rallies. Discussion meetings will be in a virtual manner.
