After five months onions came from India. On Sunday noon, 9 vehicles entered Bangladesh with onions through Satkhira’s Bhomra land port. Each car has 20 tons of onion.

Imam Hossain, caretaker of the Bhomra port, confirmed the fact. He said that at around 1:30 pm, 9 onion vehicles had entered. Some more onion cars will arrive around 6.30 pm. This way the onion will continue to come.

India stopped exporting onions on September 19 last year due to production crisis. Satkhira, the last onion car in Bangladesh through the port of Bhomra last October 10. India stopped exporting but the shipment came because there was an LC before. The Indian government lifted the ban on onion exports at the end of five months after February. After the ban was lifted, 9 onion cars entered Bangladesh via Bhomra land port today.

On the other hand, Benapole has yet to enter any onion car from India via land port. Due to coronavirus through this port, passenger traffic has been stopped even though the export of goods is underway. The programmer Akhtaruzzaman said the information.

According to the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh, onion prices are being sold in different markets of the capital today from 40 to 45 taka. From a week ago, that was 60 to 70 taka Onions imported from different countries are being sold for 40 to 60 taka. One week ago, it was 50 to 70 taka.
