Story of Overcoming Obstacles

Delwar Mizi turned around. He is overcoming obstacles even though Cyclone Cedar has set a barrier. In the year of 2007 the dream broke down .

He started to the dream without losing the morale. He has built a large farm of four thousand ducks. Besides being self-reliant,he provides employment. Delwar and his family members smiled through the duck farm.

Delwar Mizi said, ‘Once I worked as a fisherman on the river and worked for agriculture’. His days were spent happily, though he was a victim of river disruption. But Delwar’s dream was broken through the devastating cyclone ‘Cedar’. Delwar and his family were displaced by the storm.

In the midst of such hardship, morale has been lost. He has done whatever he can to persuade people to turn away from life’s obstacles. Delwar is interested in learning about poultry breeding through the internet.

He started dreaming about establishing himself. Two years ago, a duck farm was built in the reclaimed land of ‘Mid Char’ in the newly awakened ‘Charavairabi’ area of Highchar upazila of Chandpur.

Delwar Mizi said, “At 2017, I borrowed money from relatives and friends and built a farm with seven lakhs of money.” Starting with two hundred ducks, I now have four thousand ducks on my farm. Over two years, the investment has grown to around Tk 20 lakh. There are currently 6 workers working on my farm.

From the farm, I get one and two thousand eggs a day. I earn millions of dollars every month by selling poultry and eggs. I want to build 20,000 ducks. The demand from the government should provide me with a loan. Then I will be able to employ more unemployed youth by farming on a larger scale.
Ruhul Amin, who works at Delwar’s farm, Md. Shamim and Monir, said, “We used to live with unemployment. Now, with the money I earn through working on this farm, I am good with our family members.

These ducks eat natural foods including snails, oysters and fish in the river. It has much better nutritional value of the egg of the goose. On the other hand, the poultry is also financially benefited by the money saved from livestock.

The eggs produced on his farm are in great demand. Eggs are sold in different areas including Dhaka, Chandpur, Lakshmipur.

Abul Bashar, a local youth from Charavairabi South Para Bogla area, said Chhaulaullah Dewan said Delwar had spent many days at a time of hardship. At present, the wheel of fortune has changed on the farm given to him. In addition to his employment, he has provided employment for unemployed youth. Many unemployed youths are also becoming interested in duck farming in Delwar’s duck farm.

Delwar’s success story spreads among other youths and assures all kinds of cooperation, said Nim Hossain Patwari, chairman of the Highmchar Upazila Parishad. She has now become the norm for unemployed youth in the society.

In our upazila, many of the huge charts are left undisturbed. If other unemployed youths like Delwar come forward then unemployment will have a good impact on the rural economy as well. Loan arrangements will be made to increase the production of his poultry farm. We will also have help in helping other unemployed youth get employment.
