All district and upazila food offices of the government will start Aman paddy and rice collection activities from November 20. This time, paddy will be collected at the rate of 39 taka per kg, Atap rice at 49 taka and Siddhant rice at 50 taka per kg. It is learned that this decision was taken at the meeting of the Food Planning and Management Committee held at the Secretariat on November 9 under the chairmanship of Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed.
This information was learned from the Chandpur District Food Controller’s Office on November 16.
According to the information received, 2,732 million tons of parboiled rice, 400 million tons of Atap rice and 206 million tons of paddy will be purchased in 7 upazilas except Hajiganj in Chandpur district. The district will purchase rice from authorized millers and paddy directly from farmers.
Food Advisor Ali Imam Majumdar said, “This year, we will collect 50,000 metric tons of Aman rice. Parboiled rice will collect 600,000 metric tons and Atap rice will collect 50,000 metric tons. We will try to implement according to the target. We have fixed the price by looking at the interests of the farmers. Paddy will be collected at Tk 34 per kg, parboiled rice at Tk 50 per kg and Atap rice at Tk 49 per kg. We hope that this time we will be able to collect more than the target.”
