Body of woman was recovered from roof of a passenger bus in Barisal. Police have recovered the body of an unidentified 30-year-old woman from the roof of a passenger bus on the Barisal-Dhaka highway.

On Friday, November 20 at around 8 pm the body of a woman wearing a burqa was recovered from a drum on the roof of a bus at the Bhurghata bus stand on the border of Barisal district.

Barisal Additional Superintendent of Police Naimul Haque confirmed the rescue of the body.

He said a bus named RS Paribahan was going from Nathullabad bus terminal in Barisal city to Bhurghata on the border of the district at 7.40 pm on Friday. At 7 pm, a man lifted a drum on the roof of the bus at Goriyarpar stand on the way. At that time, the man told the bus helper that his men would take down the drum from Bhurghata.

When the bus reached Bhurghata at 8 pm, the transport workers became suspicious as no one went to pick up the drum.

At one stage, the workers lowered the drum and opened it with the help of the locals and saw the body of a woman wearing a burqa. After informing the police, they came to the spot and recovered the body.

The body will be sent to the morgue for autopsy to find out the identity of the unidentified woman as well as the cause of her death.

At the same time, the Additional Superintendent of Police said that efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
