The Ministry of Religion is continuing the pre-registration process for the 2021 Hajj. Ministry sources said this on Tuesday.

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, a limited number of Hajj have been performed this year. Only worshipers living in Saudi Arabia have been able to take part in it. No one from any foreign country including Bangladesh could take part in Hajj. The Umrah Hajj has not started yet.

According to the current year’s agreement of the Bangladesh government with Saudi Arabia, the quota for performing Hajj was one lakh and 37 thousand 198 people. Of these, one lakh and 20 thousand are in private management and 17,198 are in government management. But as none of them got a chance to go for Hajj, the government announced that if anyone wanted to get their money back, they could do so. Many of the registrants have canceled their registrations with their money back. The rest are planning to go for Hajj next year, according to Hajj offices and agencies.

According to sources, a total of 82,310 people have registered for the Hajj. Of these, 3,104 are under government management and 59,210 are under private management. According to sources in the Ministry of Religion, those who have not returned their money will be given priority in performing Hajj in 2021.

And those who have taken the money, they have to register new to go for Hajj. The pre-registration process is underway again in the hope that the situation in Corona will improve quickly and there will be an opportunity to perform Hajj next year, ministry officials said.
