Robber was killed in a gunfight with police in Comilla.A robber named Mazharul Islam, 24, was killed in a gunfight with police in Comilla. The Allied war took place on Sunday, February 10 at midnight in the West Singh area of Burichang upazila along Comilla-Sylhet highway.
The deceased was the son of the late Moin Uddin of Mashikara village of Devidwar upazila of Mazharul Islam district.
Police recovered a foreign pistol, domestic weapons and various robbery equipment from the scene.
Police said a gang of robbers was preparing a robbery in the West Lion area of the highway. On the basis of such secret news, police went under the leadership of Burichang Police Station OC Mozammel Haque and DB Inspector Ikhtiar Uddin. The presence of the police saw brick-and-mortar gunfire targeting the police.
Police also opened fire in self-defense. At one point Mazharul Islam was shot and injured. At one point of the bullet, the other robbers fled. He was later rescued and taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge of Burichang Police Station Mohammad Mozammel Haque said there were at least five cases of weapons, robbery and various charges against Majharul Islam. For a long time, the passengers of the highway were terrified of the robbers. Meanwhile, two businessmen were killed in the hands of robbers. Police confirmed the involvement of Mazharul and other robbers while searching for a murder clue.
Later, one was arrested in the robbery at Chandina on the highway and another in the operation. Mazharul escaped tactically during these two expeditions. Police launched a raid in the West Shing area of Burichang upazila on Monday to arrest him.
After the presence of the robbers, members of the robbery team opened fire on the police and fired at them. At this time, the police also fired at the counter and the robbers retreated and fled. Later, Mazharul was found to be injured.
