Fire control in seven-storey slum of Mohakhali. The fire in the seven-storey slum of Mohakhali in the capital has come under control. The fire was brought under control at 1 pm on Monday, fire service control room sources said.

Earlier, hundreds of houses and shops were feared to have been gutted in the blaze on Monday night.

Twelve units of the fire service have worked to control the fire.

The fire started at 11:47 pm on Monday.

Ershad Hossain, duty officer of the control room of the fire service, confirmed the matter and said that a fire broke out in a seven-storey slum next to the Mohakhali Infectious Diseases Hospital.

Upon receiving the news, first 5 units of fire service were sent. As the intensity of the fire increased, more units were sent later.

Witnesses said there were slums, plastic shops and shops selling medicines where the fire broke out.

Thousands of curious people have to get up to speed to put out the fire.

Later additional police force was brought in to remove them. People were seen removing goods in the fire. Intensity was higher on the south and southeast sides of the slums.

As there is no water source in the vicinity, the fire has to be extinguished.

However, the cause of the fire was not immediately known. No casualties were reported.
