Last March, Tamim Iqbal took over the leadership of the Bangladesh ODI team. He did not have a chance to lead the country as cricket was stopped due to Corona.
So everyone is interested in domestic cricket with Tamim’s captaincy. But now Tamim has urged not to evaluate the leadership. One of the top openers of the country wants time to become a good team leader.
Tamim will lead Fortune Barishal in the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup. Today is Saturday officially started training with the team. Speaking to the media on the first day of the team’s practice, he said that he was thinking about the leadership and the tournament.
Tamim led the BCB President’s Cup a few days ago. His team could not reach the final of that tournament. This time he will lead the T20 Cup. Asked whether the leadership was under pressure before the new mission, the left-handed batsman blamed the journalists.
Tamim said, “The pressure of captaincy … I have never played a match like that before. That must be a competitive match. The pressure of the captaincy it’s actually on yours. I have not played any international matches as a captain yet.
On the day I got the captaincy, I said that you will judge the leadership after six months or a year. You will judge after at least 20 matches how much my captaincy is affecting the game. You can’t do that after two or three matches.”
Tamim added, “It’s not like I’ve dreamed since childhood. I never dreamed of becoming the captain of the country. Rather, the opportunity has come to me. I will try to do well. Time will tell whether it will be good or bad.
