The target for tax collection in 3 circles of Chandpur in Cumilla tax region till June 2019-20 was Tk 244.59 crore till June 30 of the financial year, Tk .94.61 crore has been collected in 3 circles in Chandpur district.
In the fiscal year 2019-2020, the number of tax payers in the district was 35,979 in Circle-18 (Chandpur Sadar), Circle-19 (Matlab) and Chandpur (Hajiganj).

The target for collection of salaries of all government and non-government officials of Chandpur Sadar of Circle 18 and tax out of part of Chandpur Sadar is Tk 197 crore. Tk 65 crore till June 30 of this financial year. The number of taxpayers listed in it is 18 thousand.
The tax collection target of Circle 19 is Tk 25.59 crore.The collection till June 30 of this financial year is 16 crore 82 lakh taka. The number of taxpayers listed in it is 15,207.
The tax collection target of Circle 21 (Hajiganj) is Tk 22 crore. Till June 30 of this financial year, the collection was Tk 12 crore 79 lakh. The number of taxpayers listed in it is 2,790.
According to the information received, Chandpur tax zone is divided into 3 parts. These are – Circles 18, 19 and 21. Circle 18 is the salary of all government and private officials of Chandpur Sadar, part of Chandpur Sadar, Circle 19 is Matlab North, Matlab South, Haimchar and Chandpur Sadar. Circle 21 is Kachua, Shahrasti and Hajiganj upazilas.
It is known that in May and June, taxpayers file more income tax returns. The last date to submit the return was November 30, 2019. From then on, according to section 124 of the tax law, there is a provision to impose a fine of Tk 1,000 on the day after tax payment and Tk 50 daily from the next day.
Due to the current Corona situation, it has been extended to June 30. An official said the tax collection target for 2020-21 is Tk 155 crore.
