A mobile court has sentenced the jail to five 9 fishermen in jail for killing mother Hilisha in the Padma river after disobeying the ban in Chandpur. The conviction was carried out at Chandpur Neval- Police Station on Tuesday, Oct 15 at 12 noon.
The mobile court is headed by the Deputy Magistrate’s Office Executive Magistrate Mohammad Samuel Islam During the operation, 1 lakh 20 thousand meter current nets, two engine-powered boats and 250 kg ihils were seized.
The arrested fishermen are : Amir Hossain of Shakipur police station in Shariatpur district, Joynal , Mohammad Ismail, Bilal Hossain, Omar Faruk ,Jahangir Alam, Sajahan Sharif, and Mohammad Hanif Matlab north .
Chandpur Naval Police Station said the raid was carried out at the Logmimara Char of Rajarajeshwar Union at Sadar upazila on Tuesday Oct 15. At this time, 1 lakh 20 thousand meter current nets, two engine-driven boats and 250 fishermen were seized and brought to Chandpur Naval Police Station.Later, the fishermen detained by the mobile court were sentenced to 1 year in prison.
Executive Magistrate Md.Samuel Islam said that 9 fishermen were imprisoned for killing their mother in the river during the sanctuary. Such an operation will be continued on behalf of the district administration.
