The Vice Chancellor seems to have forgotten the work of the University.President Abdul Hamid said, “The Vice-Chancellor is the principal guardian and academic leader of the university. But when you look at the activities of some faculty and teachers, they seem to have forgotten what the real work of the university is. Many teachers forget the identity of a teacher himself, having got the administrative title. ‘

The President made these remarks at the 52nd convocation of Dhaka University on Monday,December 7. Attending the inaugural lecture was the director of the Cosmic Ray Research Institute of Tokyo, Japan named Dr. Takaki Kazita.He was honored by ‘Doctor of Science’at the ceremony.

According to the University of Dhaka, 20796 graduates have registered to attend this year’s convocation.
The President said,’The image of the institution and the reputation of the students has worsened due to the recent incidents at several universities in the country’. He also said, “Students are enrolled in university for education, not to return home as dead bodies or expelled. If the authorities take the right steps in time, it is possible to prevent a large number of unexpected events. Therefore, the authority of the University cannot avoid it. I hope that the authorities will take timely action from time to time. ”

After a long time, the President thanked the DU Vice-Chancellor for holding the Dhaka University Central Student Parliament (DUCSU) election.
Abdul Hameed said, “I have heard about some unpleasant incidents during the elections. Hopefully, in the future when DUCSU elections held, it will be even more beautiful. And I requested a higher test. I don’t see any progress on it yet. I will request the Dhaka University family through your (DU Vice-Chancellor) to think more deeply about this matter. ‘

Many public universities are now public by day, private by night
Evening education programs are being conducted at different universities in the country including Dhaka University (DAB) in exchange for large sums of money. The President said he does not like this evening’s education program in exchange for money.

He said, many public universities now have public and private character during the day. Universities become fairs in the evenings. It cannot be desired in any way.

‘Again some teachers are a little indifferent to regular courses. But they are very serious about taking classes in Evening Course, Diploma Course, Private University. Because they have cash receipts.

Highlighting the irregularities of evening education programs, the President said, “I have heard that one of their issues is International Business. This includes their 22 courses. 3 and a half bucks per course. It is up to two 2,10,000 taka. Half of it gets teachers, and half get the department.I Don’t know what about the money goes to department, but the teachers are getting it. I also know that only those who have a PhD, takes classes. ‘
