Chandpur Forest Department set a target of distributing 55,000 saplings

A target has been set to distribute tree saplings in all the Upazilas of Chandpur district for sale at a cost of Tk. 55,000 this season to protect the environment, and maintain the natural balance.

Of these, 18,000 each in Chandpur Sadar and Hajiganj, 5,000 different types of fruit and medicinal fruit trees have been prepared for distribution in Kachua, Shahrasti, and Matlab. The rest are in Upazila Forest Nursery.

Md. Tajul Islam, Acting Conservator of Forests, Chandpur District, said, “55,000 saplings have been prepared for sale in all the Upazilas as per the government guidelines and distribution is available during the current monsoon season.”

He further said, “A new 8 km garden will be created in Chandpur. Among them, a target has been set to create 1 km of new gardens at 6 km Kachua in Shahrashti Upazila of Chandpur district. Its activities will start in June. The forest department of Kachua and Shahrashti Upazila will implement the project.”
