Badal Roy passed away

The star, one of the best in the history of football in the country, passed away today. He was diagnosed with liver cancer a few days ago. That was the fourth stage. Today all his troubles came to an end.

Badal Roy has been undergoing treatment at Square Hospital in the capital since he was diagnosed with liver cancer on November 15.

Former footballer Hasanuzzaman Khan, teammate of Badal Roy, said, He died at Bangladesh Medical College.

The former Mohammedan captain suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2016. He was taken by air ambulance to Singapore. Although he recovered after a long treatment, the disease left an impression on his body.

Covid was attacked last August. He kept himself involved in football even when he was ill. He has been seen to be vocal about various issues of Bangladesh Football Federation. He played a major role in the reconstruction of Mohammedan after the casino scandal.

He was the captain of Mohammedan Sporting Club in 1971 and 1978. In 1986, after three consecutive years, Badal Roy played a big role in Mohammedan’s league win.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep grief over the death of the former footballer. She conveyed her deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
