In Chandpur Farmers Are Busy In Collecting Golden Fiber

Farmers are busy in collecting golden fiber from jute trees in Chandpur.Farmers of Chandpur are busy in collecting golden fiber and jute of Bangladesh. Every year during the monsoon season, the farmers are busy in collecting jute in the rural areas. After soaking the jute in water for a long time and it decays. Then they collect golden fiber jute from the jute tree.

In the last few days, men and women have been seen collecting jute in different rural areas of Chandpur including Bagadi, Balia, Bahria, Harina, Rampur, Baburhat, Munsirhat, Tarpurchandi.Talking to some farmers, they said that they cultivate two varieties of jute trees. One is bog jute, the other is cotton jute. They said that these two types of jute are mostly cultivated.

At one time the main cash crop of the country was known as Golden Fiber. This is the eco-friendly cultivation. Farmers used to earn a lot of foreign money by cultivating jute.

Due to this, farmers were very interested in jute cultivation in Bangladesh. But now the farmers are losing interest in jute cultivation day by day as compared to the past. This is because the price of jute that was there before is no longer available. Earlier, one maund jute was sold for 1700 to 1800 hundred taka. And now one maund jute sells for Tk. 1,200 to Tk. 1300, farmers said.

Yet it is still known as the golden fiber of Bangladesh. And after collecting this golden fiber, the farmers are also smiling.
