All preparation set for Chandpur municipal election: Total 1 lakh and 17 thousand voter.Chandpur municipal election on Saturday 10 October. All kinds of electioneering activities are being stopped after 12 noon on Thursday, October 08. Voting will start at 8:00 am on Saturday through electronic voting machine.
Chandpur Election Commission and Returning Officer Mohammad Tofail Ahmed said on Thursday that all preparations have been made.
According to the information received, the number of voter in Chandpur municipality is 1 lakh and 17 thousand 886 people. The number of male voters is 59,027 and the number of female voters is 58,859. Total 67 candidates are contesting in this election.
Of these, 3 mayoral candidates, 14 reserved women’s seats and 50 councilor candidates are contesting in this election. Chandpur municipality has 15 ward, 52 polling stations and 305 polling booths. Each room will have two EVMs. There will be an extra in it.
There will be one Presiding Officer in each polling station, one Assistant Presiding Officer in each room and two polling officers. In addition, 10 Ansar VDP members and the required number of police personnel will be deployed at each center to maintain law and order.
Presiding, Assistant Presiding and Polling Officers have already completed training on EVM voting from 02 to 05 October. All types of electioneering will be closed for 32 hours before the start of the election.
On the day of election, no public transport other than the vehicles of law enforcement and the vehicles approved by the Election Commissioner and Returning Officer will be allowed to operate within the boundaries of Chandpur Municipal Election. It is known that he has written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner on October 06 requesting him to take necessary steps in this regard.
On behalf of the Chandpur district administration, 15 executive magistrates will be in charge of the election. The striking force comprising BGP, RAB and APBN Ansar will also be on duty. It is known that Additional District Magistrate of Chandpur Jamal Hossain will coordinate the activities of the law enforcement agencies.
