After a five-hour shutdown due to heavy fog on the Padma and Meghna rivers, ferry service on the Chandpur-Shariatpur waterway has returned to normal. The ferry service started at 9 am on Monday, February 01. Faisal Alam Chowdhury, ferry in-charge of Chandpur-Shariatpur waterway, confirmed the matter.
Earlier, the ferry service on the Chandpur-Shariatpur waterway was suspended at around 4 am on Monday to avoid an accident due to thick fog.
Faisal Alam said the ferry was closed due to heavy fog. As a result, hundreds of passenger and freight vehicles were stranded on both sides of the ghat.
However, after the fog cleared, the ferry service resumed around 9 am today. Ferry ghat in-charge Faisal Alam said that five ferries ply on this waterway every day.
