As a result, in addition to the Meghna, two other rivers in the district, Dakatiya and Dhanagoda, have also risen, and the tidal waters are still flowing above the danger level.

As the water level of Meghna continues to rise, the roadsides of Chandpur town, the char areas on the west bank of Meghna and Ishanbala, Haimchar Upazila Sadar and the lower areas of the district have been flooded again. Due to the effect of the new moon, Ekadashi and heavy rains, the water of Meghna flowed at 65 cm above the danger level at noon and 6:00 pm on Friday.

Chandpur Water Development Board Deputy Assistant Md. Jewel Bhuiyan told Chandpur Times at 11:00 am on Saturday.

Faisal Alam Chowdhury, Harina Ferry Wharf Manager of BIDBT, said that the ferry service on the Chandpur-Shariatpur route was disrupted due to abnormally high tidal flow of the river.

The water level is higher during high tide. Then the ferry’s gangway sank along the road. There is a problem that the car can get on and off the ferry. Due to the low pressure, the water level in the rivers is increasing.

Tidal water has risen on the roads in many areas of Chandpur city. Houses, mosques, madrassas, schools, crop lands and other structures along the river have been flooded for the second day in a row. Roads and houses were severely damaged. Numerous ponds and water bodies have been washed away.

Hundreds of waterlogged families in Chandpur Sadar and Haimchar Upazilas are suffering due to the rising Meghna River. On Friday, the water of Chandpur point of Meghna river also flowed above the danger level.
