Madrasa burned ashes but intact ‘Holy Quran’

In the south matlab of Chandpur, all the rooms of a madrasa named Madinatul Munawara Hafizia have been burnt to ashes. There are twenty Quran Sharifs in the madrasa chamber. The incident took place on Tuesday,December 24 at the Matlab Bridge-adjacent area in the southern Baishpur village of the upazila at about 1 am.

The locals alleged that the madrassa was burned by the miscreants. Madrasah authorities claim that the goods of the madrasa were damaged by the loss of 50 lacs.

According to sources at the Madrasah office and local residents, Adhpaka Hafizia Madrasa was established in the village of South Baispur in the year of 2017 with three large rooms.50 students are studying in three rooms of the madrasa. The madrasa was closed from last Sunday and students and teachers went home .

At 1 am on Tuesday night, some rogue set fire to three madrassa’s doors and windows.The fire spread quickly and within a short time all the windows of the madrasa, doors,books, clothing, furniture, two refrigerator,coating and other items kept in the room were burnt.

In addition, the wood and valuables kept in a room were burned .But the 20 Quran Sharifs kept there are completely intact.

The founder of the madrasa, Hafez Maulana Mufti Roknuzzaman Madani said, ‘At around 1:30 am, Shahadat Hossain Mollah reported on the cellphone.

He also gave the news to local fire service and police. Later, with the help of the locals, the fire service brought the fire under control. Upazila Fire Service Department Station Officer Md. Asaduzzaman led the fire operation.

Head teacher Shahadat Hossain alleges,’The education and future of the student is uncertain.we will file a case or complaint in this regard’. He claimed that his madrassa suffered a loss around Tk 50 lacs.

Officer-in-charge of the police station, Swapan Kumar said, ‘I rushed to the spot upon receiving the news.If the madrasa authorities complain about this, preventive action will be taken’.
