In Chandpur Case filed against four journalists including the editor of Prothom Alo. A defamation suit worth Tk. 100 crore has been filed against four journalists, including ‘Prothom Alo’ editor Matiur Rahman, in Chandpur. The court took cognizance of the case and directed the Additional Superintendent of Police to investigate.
The case was filed in the Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Sunday afternoon. Former Vice Chairman of Kachua Upazila Advocate.
Helal Uddin became the plaintiff and filed the case under sections 500/501/502 and 34 of the Penal Code.
The other accused in the case are Reporter Sharifuzzaman, Masud Rana and Iftekhar Mahmud.
The statement of the case against ‘Prothom Alo’ in Chandpur said, the accused said in a planned manner in connivance with each other.
Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir’s purchase of an ‘unauthorized hospital and other people’s loan money’ in columns 2 and 3 of the first and second pages of the daily Prothom Alo on 30th July and 4th September with the nefarious intention of socially degrading the local and the whole country out of hatred for the dignity of Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir. Hospital has published and disseminated false, false, imaginary, unrealistic and uninformed defamatory news under the headline’.
But mentioned in the news at the City Medical College. Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir has no shares. He even provided unpaid advice to the organization at various times.
It is further mentioned in the statement that the accused published false and defamatory news in the eyes of all. Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir’s reputation has been severely tarnished.
In this, his value of one hundred crore taka is damaged. Which is by no means complete.
The plaintiff’s lawyer Helal Uddin said, ‘Chandpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Judge Kamal Hossain has taken cognizance of the case and directed the Additional Superintendent of Police to investigate. I hope the proper investigation will uncover the real facts and bring to justice.’
