The deadly corona has had a huge negative impact on the foreign remittance sector in many parts of the world, but the rate of return has slowed down but is slowly returning to normal, bank officials said.

However, due to the Eid-ul-Adha in July, there was a huge positive response in the foreign remittance sector.

The regional office of the concerned bank informed this on Wednesday, September 08.

According to the regional office of the concerned bank, 28 branches of Krishi Bank received foreign remittances of Tk. 7.22 crore in August. Sonali Bank received foreign remittances of Tk. 308.70 crore in 20 branches. Agrani Bank received foreign remittances of Tk. 91 crore in 21 branches. Janata Bank received foreign remittances of Tk. 23.11 crore in 17 branches.

According to sources in the Chandpur Manpower and Employment Office, 256,000 Chandpur workers are working in different countries of the world, including the Middle East. They send remittances from their workplaces to their nearest relatives through bank branches.

The expatriates of Chandpur send these remittances every month to various financial institutions internationally and through various agencies approved by Bangladesh Bank. Some banks are also transacting money and giving money only through a secret PIN number.
